What is the goal of persuasive writing?
- To state the writer's opinions
- To give reasons why the reader should agree
- To convince the reader to take action
How to write persuasively...
1.)
Introduce the thesis statement, clearly stating your positions.
You may include a preview of why you hold this belief.
2.) Place the topic in some
context. Provide some background to the issue.
3.) Provide
accurate, relevant, and complete evidence. Consider using facts,
statistics, reasons, and examples to support your position.
4.) Try to avoid faulty reasoning.
Readers will notice when the evidence you include does nor prove your
point.
5.)
Anticipate and
disprove any contradictory arguments. Don't
"bash" opposing position, but help the reader see the logic, fairness and
reasonableness of your position.

Restate your
position in your
conclusion.

The Super Bowl started in 1967, because they wanted to
determine who is the best football team. The first two teams were the Kansas
City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers

Advertisers choose to advertise during the Super Bowl
because they know a lot of people watch the Super Bowl and they don't know
how many watch other shows.

The average cost of a Super Bowl commercial is 3.7 to 3.8
million. It costs 4 million to advertise a 30 second commercial during the Super

I usually watch the Super Bowl. Sometimes I cant because I either have baseball or basketball practice.

I watch the Super Bowl for the football game, halftime show, and the commercials because it is fun to watch.

My favorite Super Bowl commercial is Ian Up For Whatever Film. I like it because Ian is not famous and he meets famous people. Also because he goes on stage with one republic. If that happened to me I would be scared of stage fright. That is why it is my favorite Super Bowl Commercial.
